Introduction to the New LAACG Software Compendium
The LAACG used to publish
Computer Codes for Particle Accelerator Design
and Analysis: A Compendium in printing. The last version has been
published in May 1990. With the rapid development of codes and computers
it is difficult these days to have a printed version of such a compendium
that is up-to-date.
Nowadays, the possibilities of the World Wide Web (WWW) provide an excellent
means to maintain a permanently up-to-date version of such a compendium.
We started collecting information on a new
Online Software Compendium, A Resource for Accelerator Physics and
Electromagnetic Simulations in 1995. In February 1996 we started a
complete restructuring of this compendium. This new software compendium
will not only contain programs, where we have a complete LAACG Info-sheet
, but also information on other codes, where we have descriptions
or links to their distributors. We encourage you, to use our
questionnaire to enter software descriptions for all programs listed here.
We ultimately would like to see LAACG Info-sheets for all of
them. Our classification schemes by: application,
method descriptions and other describing keywords make
the search for a specific code and its comparison with other codes much easier.
